Accelerating Australia's Maritime Green Transition through the Sustainable Shipping Hub

Our oceans are in a crisis from pollution, climate change, biodiversity loss and over exploitation. Maritime transport, responsible for 90% of global trade, is a significant contributor to these challenges, but also holds the solutions. Urgent action is needed to reach critical climate and nature targets by 2030.

The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) is setting environmental standards and Europe has taken the lead in emissions reduction, but Australia is yet to find an actionable roadmap. However, the current environment is galvanising.

Join WISTA to hear from Dr Michaela Dommisse about the proposed Sustainable Shipping Hub (not for profit) based in Australia that aims to unite the Australian shipping and associated maritime community to accelerate a greener future for Australia and the near pacific.

This is your opportunity to share your valued feedback on this concept and its potential direction.

Our guest, Dr Michaela Dommisse is a seasoned marine scientist and environmental management professional who has held key leadership roles across diverse sectors, including philanthropy at the Minderoo Foundation, government with NOPSEMA, industry at INPEX, and research at the Australian Institute of Marine Science. In addition, she leads a family abalone business, serves on a non-profit board, and holds an adjunct research position at UWA. Passionate about ocean conservation, Michaela believes the maritime sector is pivotal to achieving a healthy ocean.
