All are welcome to join WISTA Australia members and future members for a tour of CSIRO’s Research Vessel "Investigator" to learn about the various roles and activities undertaken by the vessel and crew onboard the ship.

The tour will start at 15:30 at the CSIRO Marine Laboratories on Hobart’s waterfront and run for 1-1.5 hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early to confirm your attendance.

Registration for the event will close on Thursday, Aug 3rd and tour numbers are limited.

The vessel tour will be followed by drinks and nibbles at The Den Salamanca, on Hobart’s waterfront, hosted by WISTA and TasPorts.

Please see the links below to register for the Vessel Tour and the Networking Event.

Many thanks to TasPorts and the CSIRO Marine National Facility for hosting and sponsoring this event.

If you are interested in becoming a WISTA member you can sign up online at https://wistaaustralia.wildapricot.org/join-us or reach out to Wista.australia@gmail.com for further information.

We look forward to seeing you at the event.

If you are attending the tour, please note:

By attending the tour, you agree to participate under CSIRO’s direction and will conduct yourself with reasonable care in accordance with the following conditions:

  • You must have a reasonable level of mobility and take responsibility for your own safety. There are steep stairs to climb and trip hazards to avoid. This is a working ship not designed for passengers, so physical access may be challenging.

  • You must wear closed-toed, flat-soled footwear with non-slip soles (flip flops, sandals and high heels are not permitted).

  • You will be required to wear PPE (personal protective equipment) which will be supplied by CSIRO.

  • As you will be climbing steep, open stairwells, trousers, leggings or shorts are recommended.

  • You are responsible for your own property and possessions while on board the vessel. Please be mindful that you will need to have your hands free in order to maintain three points of contact with the vessel.

  • There are no public toilet facilities available on board.

  • You must follow the directions of your guide, CSIRO staff and ship’s crew while on board and on the wharf.

We can process cancellations up to 48 hours prior to the event; therefore if you can’t make it, please let us know in advance at wista.australia@gmail.com so that someone else may take your space
